Time to prep to move

About 6 years ago, Sarah and I bought our first home in Allentown. Not our primary choice but we got tired of hunting for a worthwhile home in our range outside of the city. Well, that was 6 years ago. Things have changed. We have one extra kid, both kids are bigger, job is better (title wise), and we need the space. We also need 0 neighbors attached. I’m done with that crap shoot.

We are starting to organize our house which entails throwing out a lot of clutter. Also, there is a bit of handywork that needs to be done so the house is more presentable. If I call you in the next few weeks, I may need help painting or laying some carpet.

Hopefully in May, we will start looking for homes outside of this city and any other city in the LV. Time to go to the out skirts, but not too far out.

Glad our pre-approved mortgage is higher that our first one. This opens so much more choices for a new nest.

Goals for 2009

This is not no resolution list. Resolutions are for losers and resolutions are easily broken and forgotten like last years Christmas gift. Plus, this is February already, so it can’t be my New Year Resolutions.

Goals for 2009
-Place in a disc golf tourney for my division.
-Disc golf in a new state. (Possibly New York) I’m going to try and do a new state every year.
-Gain 5000 gamerscore points on Xbox Live.
-Buy another house. This time with no attached neighbors and a big yard.
-Fulfill all expectations at work as a supervisor.
-Upgrade my home laptop.
-Purchase new vehicle for myself.

I’m sure there are more but I just can’t think of it right now.

Stuck on 3rd shift tonight

My first weekend on-call as supervisor and one of my third shift guys calls off on a weekend. Weekends are already single coverage. Now I need to find someone to cover it. Well, that someone is me. Back on third shift…just for tonight, and it comes at a price. It’s all overtime.

The shift so far is dead which is one of the things I loved about working third. I have 4 hrs before I see another person. Maybe I could continue with some DS action and try to remember where I got lost or just start Mario and Luigi Partners in Time. I’ve already wasted some time in Ninjatown and progressed in story mode.

The only channel and can get to at work is MSNBC and they have been running the same 2 hours of TV over and over. One can only watch so much Lockdown. So instead, all LCD TVs have gone back to full surviellance camera mode and alarm monitors.

Happy New Years!!!

Here’s to 2009!! What did I do?

-Worked new years eve day
-ate ham dinner/christmas presents at Aunt’s
-stayed and played Wii and brought in the new year (ate Geno’s cheesesteak and shrimp)
-had my shot of tequila at midnight
-went home and watched the NYE fireworks on Animal Crossing
-woked new years day
-ate pork and saurkraut
-picked up some money for some side work

Hunting for a new TV - LCD

My 10 yr old 27inch Zenith CRT no longer can survive in this day and age. The color is going out in it and it looks terrible when playing games via an S-Video connection. Colors are all washed out, the screen alignment is off, and the list continues.

Since I am such a cheap ass, value is key. I won’t be going for any high end 108-p business. Mainly because I have not bought into this whole Blu-ray era, yet. All other content that I would watch would be just a 720p. I’m notorious for refurbished goods as long as the extended warranty will cover it. I’m mainly looking at a 37-42″ LCD widescreen that is 720p, HDMI, and HD Ready.

Some brands that I was looking at was Viewsonic, Dynex (Best Buy), or Corion (newegg.com). Of course others will be looked at if the price is right and the specs are met.

Here’s hoping that the NFL Playoffs/Superbowl will drudge up some good deals.
