A new year is upon us and who knows it could be the last according to the Mayans. So, on the positive side of that doom and gloom, we only have to make a list of new year resolutions one more time. I hate calling them resolutions. I’m not trying to resolve some behavior or attitude. I want to accomplish something, yes. It makes it sound so much better than a resolution. A resolution makes it sound like I am an overweight, racist, cold hearty, unhealthy schmuck and I need to resolve or abolish an attitude to either stay alive, keep my marriage, or regain state custody over my kids.

So enough with that. This is what I want to get done this year. (We won’t discuss my progress from last year because I barely did a damn thing on that list. I’m going to keep track of my resolutions via a great app called Wunderlist.

-Stay well under 200lbs. [Optional goal is 180lbs.] (This has been my goal for the last couple of years and been successful.)
-Complete 2 certifications for work.
-Play more disc golf.
-Disc golf in 2 new states. (I try for one new state a year but I missed 2011.)
-Go fishing with the kids more.
-Take the kids camping.
-Get all the rooms on the first floor painted.
-Insulate 2 of the 3 crawlspaces.
-Replace the ceiling fan.
-Replace the garbage disposal.
-Replace all electrical outlets and light switches.
-Expand the garden and hook up a rain barrel system.
-Build a compost pile.
-Decommission one of my servers.
-Write 12 blog posts to this blog or any reincarnated form. (Actually 11 if you count this one.)
-Hook up a surround sound system in family room.
-Earn Xbox Gamerscore of 13500.
-Read 10 books.
-Learn a new geeky/nerdish trait or skill.

I keep making this list longer and longer. I should probably stop now or my end of the world will really be depressing since I might not complete most of these when the world implodes next December.

You know it’s next week. What you didn’t get me anything yet? Well here’s a list.

Renew my PDGA membership fee. (or money for it)
Silverback Gorrila Boy Disc Golf Bag
Roku XDS
Lego’s Falling Water
3-man Chess board

Money will also do. Just Paypal it to me and I’ll buy what I need.

It’s that time to throw out what I plan on doing this year. Some are either carry overs from last year and some are on going goals for every year.

Roll overs from last year:
-Get all the rooms on the first floor painted.
-Stay well under 200lbs. (Optional goal is 180lbs.)
-Complete 1 certifications for work.
-Place 1st in a disc golf event.
-Disc golf in a new state. (Likely candidates this year is Massachusetts, Maryland, or Virginia.)

New ones:
-Ride bike more. Not for exercise but more for pleasure.
-Start saving for a Disney trip.
-Go fishing with the kids more.
-Use all my vacation days wisely.
-Insulate 2 of the 3 crawlspaces.
-Replace the ceiling fan.
-Replace the kitchen sink.
-Mount TV on wall and purchase surround sound.
-Decommission one of my servers.
-Pay off student loans and computer.
-Earn Xbox Gamerscore of 10000.

Since I have off from work for almost two weeks, I’ve been cleaning out my basement, garage, and storage up in my bedroom area. Now my living room is full of items I been meaning to sell. Most of the stuff is or has been listed on Craigslist. Some items like my baseball card  and stamp collection from the mid to late 80s will be taken to local shops to see what I can get for them. This is all monies that will be dumped into a hopefully iEverything upgrade spending spree by the end of the year. So far an old 27″ TV and a DVD player went immediately.

The other items I posted is/are disc golf bag and discs, Hoegaarden beer light, Becks beer light, Budweiser holiday steins, 23″ electric fireplace, Xbox 360 games, Wii games, printer and scanner, and a weed wacker.

I also have some autographed LP posters of Bad Company and some other bands around here somewhere.

Interested in anything let me know.

This weekend is the third annual Soltstice Tournament up at Hickory Run and Francis E Walter Dam, a cross-town event. I’ve been in the previous two and I can’t wait for this years. The weekend is full of camping, parties, friends, prizes, cigars, and more. The event is put on by the Bearclaws and my buddy Mike Solt. He is stringing together a nice list of successful tourneys, especially this series. Each year, the player’s and prize packs get bigger and bigger.

I am heading up there early Friday to help set stuff up and any last minute preperations, plus get a practice round in. Now there is a random doubles match that evening at one of the courses. So, now that is 2 rounds on Friday and 2 on Saturday. That is the most I have ever played within a 48 hr window. I guess this is gearing me up for Sportsfest weekend down at my home course, Lehigh Parkway.

I’m sure there will be practice baskets at the campgrounds for some putting challenges.

The last two years at this tournament, I walked away with some sort of prize, so I hope to keep the streak alive. Just like Richie Klinger is hoping to keep his streak alive and winning all three Solstice Pro divisions. The first year I walked away with Closest to the Basket (which those in my foursome will not forget the path I took) and last year I one a portable basket from the raffle. This year I want first place in the rec division.

Help we win some custom frisbees for our local club for prizes at our events. This is a great website and is very similar to Myspace but just for disc golf.

When you sign up at http://discgolfersR.us and put in my name (Eddie) in the area that asks who reffered you to this site.

Thanks.

Also check out our local club’s page at http://lvdiscgolf.org.

The last two months in disc golf tournaments have been good to me. Or I should say last two tournaments. Last month at the second annual Soltice Tournament, I walked away with a new Innova Disccatcher basket. That was a nice perk after shooting like shit the first round at Hickory Run.

Yesterday was the 11th Annual Allentown Sportsfest and the 7th year LVDC held a tournament at the Lehigh Parkway for Sportsfest. I’ve never placed in a tournament and have been going in Intermediate Ams instead of Advanced in hopes to remind this mediocre athlete that I can play. The first round I did alright but had a few out of bound penalties that really could of hurt me. However, the amount of pars that followed help me get on the lead card for the second round. I was tied for second and only two strokes from the lead. The second round was a close battle back and forth until the guy that was tied with me started fading out. I could not capitalize on mistakes from the lead and two low putts right at the end cemented my place in second. Which I am still more than satisfied with. Still need a #1 finish and I guess I need to greatly improve and sit in thebottom middle of Advanced Ams for the rest of my days.
