So, I got one for XMAS. It was kind of a gift to myself in cooperation with my job. Thank you PAETEC. I once had the first Xbox a few years back and loved the games on it. I really wish I didn’t get rid of it, but that is a thing of the past. The decision was due to other circumstances and decisions. I got the Arcade model which ended up being the new Jasper chipset, so thats a nice plus. I got the 60GB HDD and a red controller to go with it.

So far, I have just been playing around with it and downloading some free XBLA games and demos. I played a little bit of Beautiful Katamri and Gears of War 2. There are so many games that I need to play and not enough time to do so. I need a better TV. I am having issues with reading text on the screen. I don’t know if it is a setting I have wrong or what but the text is tiny and blurred. I attempted Dead Rising and had to stop. I had no idea what was going on. I need to Google it to find out what the hell is happening.

Other games I have that are waiting to get some game time is Orange Box, Soul Caliber 4, Forza 2, Marvel
Alliance, Sega Tennis, and Halo1+2, Mercs, SW Battlefront, and KoToR for the first Xbox.

Looking to get more points for XBLA. I have a 3 month Live card and a $50 Best Buy gift card up for trade/sell.

During my short stint as Santa Claus, I got to see what the popular gifts of 2008 were for the youth of America. The number one most popular gift without a shadow of doubt is the pink Nintendo DS. There was almost at least a dozen or so every night.

Girls:
1. Nintendo DS (pink)
2. Benderoos
3. Pixos
4. Cupcake Maker
5. American Girl Doll
6. Hanna Montana

Boys:
1. Bakugan
2. Xbox 360
3. trains/cars/trucks
4. bike
5. random video games

Honerable mentions to Sony PSP, Wii, red Nintendo DS, legos, and a real puppy.

At the time of beating the final storyline mission I was:

Total Progress (Completion): 63.64%
Playing time: 53:53*
Favorite Radio: Radio Los Santos
Least Favorite: Playback FM (really?)
Total Wanted Stars: 839
Stars Evaded: 329
Arrested: 6
Criminals/Gang Members Wasted: 44/1217
People Killed: 4233
Road/Boat/Air Vehicles Destroyed: 1079/5/266
Property Damage: $4,738,047

Now time to do some side missions.

I have beaten them all excespt for GTA: Vice City Stories (I was half way through it) and GTAIV.

Over the years I have had my fair share of consoles. I’ve owned all the last generation consoles, and not all at the same time. My first PS2 died, so I traded in for an Xbox. Then visa versa. I also owned a Gamecube for awhile. Then while I had my Xbox and Gamecube, I bought into the PSP and traded all my gear to build up my PS2/PSP library. Then I sold the PSP and all my games to start off with a Nintendo DS and gradually moved into a Wii.

Now, I’m looking to add to the Wii and get an Xbox 360. I might be getting one through an awards program at work. I’ve been earning points for various achievements of excellence as well nominations from my co-workers. These points might be used for an Xbox 360 Arcade system. I’ll then be needing to buy some stuff to go with it (hard drive, Live card, MS points, controller, some games). So, since I’m married with two kids, work in this economy, and have Christmas coming, I decided to see what the online community would contribute. Sure its a shot in the dark, but I’ve donated a dollar or two to similar requests looking to fix their car, buy video games, open heart surgery, etc. The link to my Paypal account is here.

My wife did not grow up as a gamer or even bother playing video games as a child. She had a younger brother, but their gap in age did not open up any good avenues for bonding. Not like the 16 month difference with my sister. (We played many games together in our youth.) For the last 7 years after the birth of our first son, I’ve been telling my wife that she needs to learn how to play games and turn on the consoles and what controllers go with what. The only thing she knew how to do was play DVDs in the PS2. So, its a start.

Within the last two years, I got her to join in on some limited time with EyeToy on the PS2. Just some casual playing around but nothing extensive. She maybe did a race or two on Mario Kart DS. And she showed a short interest in Wii Sports when I bought the console. We still play tennis once a month when the mood strikes us.

She is becoming a fan of the Nintendo DS. I turned her onto Honeycomb Beat, which is an outstanding title that was only released in the UK. Then, she saw me playing an interesting puzzle game earlier this year. It was Professor Layton. She started helping me with my puzzles and decided she wanted to start her own story. The addiction begins. She started to talk trash and say she was going to beat me to the end. She started taking the DS to bed, she hid it from me so I wouldn’t take it to work, she needs her own DS.

You just got to love all these articles from half-ass analysts, haters, and ‘talk out their ass’ asses. Everyone is quick to claim that the Wii is soon to die. The Wii is just a fad. It’s domino marketing sells will soon dwindle and all the Wiis will collect dust. Wii owners are only interested in Wii Sports and Wii Play and the possible first party title. Their is no way that attache rate of the Wii will match Xbox or PS3.

Below is just units sold according to nextGenWars.

nexgenwars.com

This only shows total hardware. The attache rate for the Wii is nearing 5 games owned per console with the PS3 nipping at its heels. The Xbox360 has a total of 7 games per unit. Those numbers are close if you factor in the 360 was out a whole year before the Wii.

What games do I own? Do I help the attache rate? I sure as shit do.

First party – Wii Sports, Wii Play, Links Crossbow, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros.
Third party -  Rayman Raving Rabbids, Excitruck, Geometry Wars, Ghost Squad, Resident Evil 4
Numerous Virtual Console Games
Coming Soon – Mario Kart (Sunday), House of the Dead 2 & 3, and Mercury Meltdown (these 3 are just definites that I will have within the month)

My favorite NES game, River City Ransom, is coming to the Virtual Console on the Wii. I’m so glad I have one of these fun and addictive white boxes. The next month is going to be huge on my Nintendo collection. This Monday after the smoky 4/20, prepare to throw garbage cans at youe foes. You should of seen my eyes when I seen this article on Destructoid pop in on my RSS reader. I’m glad I saved my points. I wish I could return TMNT  and at least get 200 points in return.

I remember when I bought this game back in 1990. I saved my paper route money and drooled over images of it in Nintendo Power. My mom drove me to Toys R Us and I played that game non-stop.
