The name in the title will only stick out to that MTG nerd out there…yea yea Magic The Gathering. The following is my post on the annihilation that I have occured onto Garruk on the Xbox 360 Magic The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalker XBLA title. It took me quite awhile to orchestrate the below attack and nearly crashed and burned my Xbox as smoke was starting to pour out of it. I was waiting for the dreaded Red Ring of Death and maybe even a Blue Screen of Death to rear it’s ugly head. (You ask why I spent over an hour setting this up? Because I am nerd-like, it was late at night, and I was bored. Plus the opportunity presented itself.)

This was a regular match I was playing in an attempt to unlock all the cards for all the decks. Yes for the achievement! This was for the last card in the Ears of the Elves deck. A decent green/black deck with a ton of elves that work together to boost their strength and numbers.

Since I have off from work for almost two weeks, I’ve been cleaning out my basement, garage, and storage up in my bedroom area. Now my living room is full of items I been meaning to sell. Most of the stuff is or has been listed on Craigslist. Some items like my baseball card  and stamp collection from the mid to late 80s will be taken to local shops to see what I can get for them. This is all monies that will be dumped into a hopefully iEverything upgrade spending spree by the end of the year. So far an old 27″ TV and a DVD player went immediately.

The other items I posted is/are disc golf bag and discs, Hoegaarden beer light, Becks beer light, Budweiser holiday steins, 23″ electric fireplace, Xbox 360 games, Wii games, printer and scanner, and a weed wacker.

I also have some autographed LP posters of Bad Company and some other bands around here somewhere.

Interested in anything let me know.

My 10 yr old 27inch Zenith CRT no longer can survive in this day and age. The color is going out in it and it looks terrible when playing games via an S-Video connection. Colors are all washed out, the screen alignment is off, and the list continues.

Since I am such a cheap ass, value is key. I won’t be going for any high end 108-p business. Mainly because I have not bought into this whole Blu-ray era, yet. All other content that I would watch would be just a 720p. I’m notorious for refurbished goods as long as the extended warranty will cover it. I’m mainly looking at a 37-42″ LCD widescreen that is 720p, HDMI, and HD Ready.

Some brands that I was looking at was Viewsonic, Dynex (Best Buy), or Corion (newegg.com). Of course others will be looked at if the price is right and the specs are met.

Here’s hoping that the NFL Playoffs/Superbowl will drudge up some good deals.

So, I got one for XMAS. It was kind of a gift to myself in cooperation with my job. Thank you PAETEC. I once had the first Xbox a few years back and loved the games on it. I really wish I didn’t get rid of it, but that is a thing of the past. The decision was due to other circumstances and decisions. I got the Arcade model which ended up being the new Jasper chipset, so thats a nice plus. I got the 60GB HDD and a red controller to go with it.

So far, I have just been playing around with it and downloading some free XBLA games and demos. I played a little bit of Beautiful Katamri and Gears of War 2. There are so many games that I need to play and not enough time to do so. I need a better TV. I am having issues with reading text on the screen. I don’t know if it is a setting I have wrong or what but the text is tiny and blurred. I attempted Dead Rising and had to stop. I had no idea what was going on. I need to Google it to find out what the hell is happening.

Other games I have that are waiting to get some game time is Orange Box, Soul Caliber 4, Forza 2, Marvel
Alliance, Sega Tennis, and Halo1+2, Mercs, SW Battlefront, and KoToR for the first Xbox.

Looking to get more points for XBLA. I have a 3 month Live card and a $50 Best Buy gift card up for trade/sell.

I just received my latest cable company bill and was surprised by yet another increase that occured over the last year. Thanks a lot RCN. This time the Showtime/Starz/Cinemax/ETC channels went up to $30 a month. Overall, it is not a bad price if you watch a lot of movies. We used to and always grabbed stuff ON DEMAND since what we wanted to watch was never on when we wanted. Lately, a lot of the movies suck or we just have no interest in. Plus, the ON DEMAND menus are becoming slower and slower with RCN to navigate. It looks like I am dropping the premium movie channels at the end of the billing cycle. The only thing that really sucks is they group the digital music channels with the movie channels. I will definetly miss those 40+ music channels.

In its place I was thinking of either restarting my Blockbuster Online account or starting up with Netflix. Both companies have great response times on delivery and the selections are pretty damn close.

Hopefully my next cable/internet/phone bill will be below $150.

Too bad Gamefly got too expensive or I would restart that service as well.

It is time to give up one of the first games that I overplayed on my Nintendo DS, and of course it is another game a grown gaming man should not be playing…Animal Crossing Wild World. One of those damn addicting games that we played at work. A stupid time wasting, item collecting, fishing, bug catching game. I traded this game away on Trade Games Now for Zelda Minish Cap. Good score for both parties.

If you know me, as the guys at work do. You do not want me visiting your ACWW town. I leave trash hidden behind houses so you never find it. I teach my residents curse words and sexual and racial innuendos in hopes that they spread their vulgar hate to younger children. So, to seal this deal I decided to go all out and leave my town in shambles for the next gamer. Jump to after the break for the ghetto of K-TEL.

Well the lameness of cool as progressed even further today as I picked up the pre-order of Pokemon Diamond AND Pearl. One is for a fellow co-worker. The EBGames or Gamestop (whatever its called now) opened up early in one of our local malls. So there I was sitting in the parking lot observing the people congregating at the front entrance of the South Mall. I was quite surprised at the demographics. There was very few kids of youthful age in the group of 40 people. Of course they were accompanied by their parents. There was also parents by themselves picking it up for their kids (I’m assuming). Then there was the shocking number of the long dark haired basement dwelling young adults there to pick up their copy. I guess I somewhat fall into that category except for the long hair and the basement dwelling (I own the whole house basement and all). Continue reading »
